Not Seeing Is a Flower
4.7 x 39 FT
San Diego International Airport (2018)
Site-specific installation employs floriography, a form of cryptographic communication historically used as a means to communicate messages otherwise difficult to speak aloud. Each flower in the composition has a relationship to the countries affected by the Muslim travel ban including official national flowers, ceremonial bouquets, native plants and images appropriated from Colonial-era postage stamps.
